Master Chen Quanzhong was born in
1925 in Chenjiagou Village in Henan Province. He is the 19th successive
generation of the Chen family. He started at the age of five learning
the large frame (lao da jia) style from his father Chen Shi Gong.
Later while attending school he studied with Chen Guo-Ying (17th generation).
Master Chen also received instruction from the famous masters Chen
Sheng-San (17th generation) and Chen Liang-Zhi (16th generation).
In the 1940´s, in order to escape the war, Chen Quanzhong moved
to Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, and continued the practice of Chen style
with Chen Jing-Ping (18th generation) and Chen Jin-Ao (18th generation).
Finally he learned from Chen Shou-Li (17th generation, himself a
student of Chen Fake, 17th generation). Chen Quanzhong is President
of the Xi'an Chen Style Tai Ji Association.
Uncle Chen (as his students in China call him) is a wonderful picture
of what Tai Chi represents concerning its major principles. Although
at old age he is an exceptional healthy individual with strength,
flexibility and speed that a 25 year old would be most proud to possess.
